AS Class Review 5/10 AND 5/17

5/10 last week: we started a new unit. finished up DON'T CUT my HAIR! unit by reading and began a discussion of ALL, SOME, and NONE worksheet Scholastic gr2 100 words you need to know.

5/17 this week: practiced for open class by doing some of the games we will play on Wednesday.

Don't Cut my Hair # Unit 1

Dictionary lookup
Write in English, Korean, then write a sentence.
this is a good way to pinpoint grammar errors to work on in later sessions.
WORK ON PLURALS AND WHEN TO ADD -S AND WHERE.

Vocabulary:

discuss adjectives as describing words. they give us MORE information.

AFTERSCHOOL: SPRING 2010

It's so exciting to see so many returning faces from grade 3 afterschool and winter camps! They've entered my regular school hours twice/weekly so now i see these kids 3 times/week.
They are a bright bunch, and like games a lot. It's all girls except Brian. I have a feeling we'll be playing a lot of hands-on movement games.

First Unit based on the book "Don't Cut My Hair!"

WINTER CAMP 2010 Jan 8~13

DAY ONE: welcome & learning instructions

DOL: use a dictionary to look up five vocabulary words. Read, write, & Draw. Read aloud together for Fluency.

Warm-up activity.: Learn a song (Say Hello!)

Pick English names, make nametags

CLASSROOM RULES: I am talking, YOU ARE LISTENING. No eating/drinking in class, No handphones, ENGLISH TALKING ONLY. Everyone Works, Everyone Plays.

Name games: I AMHE ISSHE IS.WE ARE (actions), ZIP-ZAP: using nametags & the mystery bag, THROW THE BALL using names & a timer (they LOVE TO SEE HOW FAST THEY CAN GET)

ABCs practice, Sing ABCs, ABC+ Sounds

Classroom Scavenger Hunt

VOCABULARY: Sad, happy, sleepy, scared, excited, hungry, thirsty, shy, cold, hot, love, hate Can/cant will/wont

GAME: Learn emotions & play LEMONADE.

Have different students come to the stage and say the same line with a different emotion. (ex. Come here, cat. Happy, shy, scared, excited)
